Indian Night – Recap (with pics!)

If you didn’t join us on February 15, you missed out on some delicious food, temporary henna tattoos and some (questionably) good Bollywood music. What was undeniably good, though, was the good time had by all.

Also, who knew that henna tattoos were so permanent? Who still has theirs? Several hand-washings, showers, and exactly one dip into the icy cold Chesapeake Bay, and we can still see ours. Good thing it’s such a cool design, or this might be a little tiresome. (Ok it is,  but it’s still pretty cool anyway)

This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein by Kenneth Oppel is a thrilling and fast-paced adventure. Not only is this a good story, but the book reveals how Victor Frankenstein got his start.

Soon to be a movie!

(Translation – you know how you can’t check out Hunger Games right now because you waited for the movie to come out, and now there are 912837 people on the waiting list for the book? Lesson learned, right? This time, be the trendsetter and read the book before anyone else even hears about the movie. Oooooooh sneaky!)

Victor and Konrad are the twin brothers Frankenstein. They stumble upon The Dark Library containing secret books of alchemy and ancient remedies. When Konrad falls gravely ill, Victor is not satisfied with the various doctors his parents have called in to help. He is drawn back to The Dark Library where he uncovers an ancient formula for the Elixir of Life.

Victor, along with cousin Elizabeth and best friend Henry, immediately set out to find assistance in a man who was once known for his alchemical works to help create the formula.

We love libraries of all kinds, so we particularly love how this one is featured in such a magical way.
