Divergent – Teen Summer Book Blitz for June

Posted: 06/15/2012 by judgeduke1912 in Books, Events

Each year, Calvert Library hosts our Teen Summer Book Blitz, where, for 2 or 3 months in the summertime, you can come into glorious air conditioning and talk to your friendly librarians and teen-friends-you-haven’t-met-yet to discuss a great book and enjoy some good free food (probably good).

So, hey – can I ask you something? Do you think just one choice should determine your friends, beliefs, and loyalties? Would you want that? Sorry, wrong question. Who would want that? This June, we’ll find out what you all think.

In Veronica Roth’s Divergent, all sixteen-year-olds must choose one of five different factions based on a particular virtue. Beatrice Prior’s choice is complicated by a deadly secret that must remain hidden.

But trust us, it won’t be.

Thursday, June 28
7:00 – 8:30pm
Calvert Library
Prince Frederick

Join us for refreshments, activities, and discussion. We’ll also talk about which faction each of us would be in and why. We’ll probably also sneak in what District we’d be in from The Hunger Games, since it’s always fun to talk about The Hunger Games.

The first ten participants to register for our Book Blitzes receive a free copy of the book. Sadly, we’ve already given out all 10 copies of Divergent, but keep an eye open for Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, our blitz book for July. Contact your local Calvert Library branch to sign up, then stop by for your free book.

And hey, if you don’t make it in time to win the free book you can keep, the library has free books for you anyway. We’re your library like that. 🙂
